Teams & Grading
-
You are required to select a grade when registering your team.
TNA looks at the previous competitions and player names to determine accuracy of the grade entered.
Re-grading may occur within the first four weeks of any season.
Any team who has won the previous season’s Grand Final entering their team with five or more of the same players, will automatically be put up into the next highest grade.
For more details information on grading, please see Section 9 of our by-laws.
-
Boys are allowed to participate in the same division as girls in 9&U, 11&U and 13&U.
When a boy turns 14, his team must be registered in a mixed division.

Coaching & Umpiring

Our umpires go through our umpire training program (TUP) before they are able to umpire games.
Many of our senior or experienced umpires are C-grade badged. To be badged, an umpire must be critiqued by the relevant graders and complete their umpires exam successfully.

As per our child-safe policy and by-laws, all coaches are required to have valid Working with Children checks and be paid Netball Victoria members.
We encourage coaches to complete Foundation Coaching on Netball Learning, however this is not mandatory.

Please remember, we all start somewhere.

Parents & Volunteers
-
There are many opportunities for parents to get involved.
On game day we need court supervisors and scorers, we need post pads put up and taken down.
NetSetGo coaches, squad parent-helpers, gurus on a BBQ, umpires (paid), committee members - if you want to be involved, there’s something for you!
-
Team Managers generally assist the coach. This may vary from team to team.
Some responsibilities may include creating scoring rosters for the team, assistance with training and game day prep.
-
Both teams are required to provide a scorer to ensure the score is accurate throughout the game.
The scorers are required to stand together, away from either team bench, throughout the entire game. One scorer is responsible for the paper copy, one scorer is responsible for the tablet. Scorers can swap responsibilities throughout the game. For example, swap paper for tablet at half time.
If a team fails to provide a scorer, they give up the right to contest any final score.
It is the umpire’s responsibility to confirm score and submit to Netball Connect at the end of the game.
-
Each team must provide a court supervisor. This person must not be the scorer or coach.
It is the responsibility of the court supervisor to ensure the safety of players and umpires throughout the game.
An umpire may approach the court supervisor with a concern regarding a spectator for example. The court supervisor will then be responsible to manage the situation. For example, asking the spectator to change their behaviour or leave.
If at any time, the court supervisor feels uncomfortable in doing so, they are required to attend the office and request a committee member to come and manage the situation.
The court supervisor is there to ensure the court is safe for play, umpires are respected, and players, coaches and spectators are following appropriate code of conduct.
